"Right, are you ready?" Tain asked. She was excited. This was an adventure, a challenge and it was going to be very, very funny. Plus Tain like sushi, eating out won over eating in any time. Plus there would be wine, it felt like a very long time since she had drank properly. It wasn't, of course, but having lived in an environment where drink was on hand 24/7 being away from it for just a day felt abnormal.

The party continued on well into the night. There was dancing and singing. A small scuffle broke out between two of the actors that Will had to stop. All in all it was brilliant and eventful. Although Will was enjoying John's company very, very much he knew he would have to go home to his wife that evening.

Frankie nodded unconvinced. "There's a pub across the road. Might be worth starting there." Although Frankie felt like they were in the right place for the Cybermen she wasn't sure that she would find much out from people around here. She'd know when they were onto something. Maybe she needed to sleep and dream again, put some more of this puzzle together.

The Master felt good about their plan. Paul really wouldn't know what hit him and as Paul was as arrogant as a Time Lord without the bragging rights, the Master felt even better about their plan.

Stepping into the place they were going to meet. The place was busy, very posh, and very exciting. He smiled when Paul already got them a seat. "Showtime..." the Master whispered into her ear with a large grin.

The night was very fun and John felt like he made a very good choice to be an actor. "You sir, know how to party." He said with a grin and pulled Will into a kiss, completly wasted.

The Doctor frowned but nodded. "Blimey I hate bars. But it sounds like a good place to start. Just...don't let me have any tequilla, that stuff goes right through me!" He teased with a grin. After hesitating, he took her hand and followed her to the closest bar.

Entering the bar, the Doctor looked around and frowned. It was very busy, and there were a lot of people there. "Exscuse me!" The Doctor called out to get everyone's attention. He was surprised that everyone stopped to stare at them. He smiled sheepishly at Frankie who advised him to keep it subtle. "That almost never ever works." He whispered to Frankie before waving. "Hi there, I'm Doctor John Smith but you can just call me the Doctor. Anyway, I'm the Doctor and this is my newly-wedded wife Frankie Smith, and I'm running a research project on...erm....the paranormal. Can anyone tell me if anything weird happened to them? Hmm? Maybe some bad dreams or uh anything faulty with technology - that sort of thing?" He asked hopefully. All they needed was a clue that they were at the right time of the month.

Tain grinned back at the Master before sitting in the seat that was offered to her. This place was nice, a little dark but very warm. She looked straight at Paul and smiled softly. She'd wait to see where the conversation went before making any moves. She wanted to be a little bit subtle to begin with but would hopefully be all over Paul before the night was through. If she wanted she could make him fall in love with her there and then but that would be boring.

Will grinned, "I do indeed," there would be more parties like this. Ones where he'd get to stay longer. But all of them had a long day tomorrow. The first read-throughs and rehearsals were always the most tiring. "I need to get going," Will said quietly, his arms still around John.

Frankie sat herself down on a barstool and waited. What the hell was the point of them trying to blend in if the Doctor was just going to outrightly ask questions like that. He could've done that without the palaver of renting a house. Also, for this Frankie did not need to be Mrs. Smith.

The people in the bar were looking at the Doctor quite strangely. Even if any of them had something to say they weren't going to say it in front of all these people.

Paul felt very uncomfortable. He didn't know Mr. Saxon very well, but from what he heard, Mr. Saxon wasn't the nicest of men. He wasn't sure about this Tain women either, he was still freaked out from what he was imagining her doing earlier this afternoon. He stared at them as he wondered what to say before clearing his throat. "S...so Tain, you knew Mr. Saxon?" He asked, trying to get a conversation going without seeming nervous. The Master just grinned as he talked to Tain; exactly what they wanted. He said nothing as he tilted his head, gazing down at the menu. He already knew what he wanted to eat, he always knew what he wanted, but he wanted the kids to talk together without him getting in the way.

John frowned when he heard Will had to go and nodded. "Oh...all right." He said sadly and pulled Will into another kiss before finally pulling away. "I guess I'll just get a room here then, don't feel like walking any time soon." He admitted with a grin. He couldn't believe how drunk he was. It'd been a long time since he got this wasted, but it felt brilliant.

The Doctor frowned at how unhelpful everyone was being. He noticed Frankie seemed to disprove of his tactic and scowled. He sat down next to Frankie and folded his arms. "That usually works for me, believe it or not." He said with a frown. "It's almost like these people want the Cybermen to come!" He added with frustration. He tried not to get so angry, but he hadn't been the most patient man since Rose left. He groaned and gazed downward. "I can't believe we're stuck here for a whole month..." He added with a grumble. He wasn't looking forward to this at all, and he was already home sick. He looked up at Frankie and blinked. "Not that being stuck married to you is so horrible...but oh, you know what I mean! I don't do domestic very well if you couldn't tell..." He admitted with a sheepish smile.

"Oh, we used to work together," she said simply. She didn't want to be talking about the Master, she wanted to talk about Paul. If she could find out more about him then she'd be able to do this without having to resort to Chula powers. There was more of a challenge doing it that way. "Tell me about yourself, Paul. where are you from?"

Tain then ordered some champagne for them while browsing the menu. She'd never had sushi before, she didn't really understand what any of it meant. Surely all raw fish tasted the same. She'd let one of them order for her, she didn't care what she ate, she wasn't fussy.

"Sorry," said Will kissing John back. He then left. It was still quite early, maybe the party would continue without him. He was fairly drunk. He'd drank a lot more than he normally would on a night like this. He needed to be fresh and awake for the following day but he probably wouldn't be.

Frankie nodded at the Doctor not so sure about what he was saying. "This isn't exactly ideal for me." She said leaning against the bar and looking at him. "We've got a month to make friends, talk to people. They aren't all just going to give you answers just because you asked."

The barman walked over to them, "drinks?" He looked them over for a moment, "so, are you two new in town to conduct some paranormal research?" He grinned slyly.

Frankie laughed, " I'll have an orange juice please. And no, ignore him," she gestured to the Doctor, "he likes to make an entrance. Like anyone round here would've seen anything weird. This looks like quite a boring little neighbourhood. It's why we chose it. Quiet."

The barman frowned and began to sort out her drink. "It's not that quiet, loads of weird, exciting stuff goes on."

Frankie furrowed her brow at him, "like what?" She feigned disbelief to get it out of him.

"Well, there's a rumour going round that a lot of the buildings in this area are going to be taken over to provide a home for workers over at that new complex across the river."

"Oh great, so we've moved somewhere just to get kicked out." Frankie said looking at the Doctor and scowling. "What complex, what do they do?"

"Some sort of new technology, very secret, secret. It's all been a bit weird. All over the news, people have died in a fire there, rebuilt in record time. So, our little neighbourhood isn't all that boring." He grinned widely and looked at the Doctor. "What can I get for you sir?" He placed Frankie's drink down in front of her.

Paul was worried why Mr. Saxon wasn't saying anything, which was rather unlike him. He nodded at Tain, but he wasn't as interested about talking about himself. "Born and raised in London." He said proudly amd took a sip of his drink. "Graduated from Oxford University in 95 and worked for a few companies since as a manager until Mr. Saxon here found me and was lucky enough he hired me. Been here for five years." He said proudly.

John nodded. He would probably not stay without Will, knowing no one else would be as interesting. "Goodnight then. Ill try to study the script. Just for you." He added with a wink and kissed him goodnight before stumbling up the stairs.

The Doctor scowled as she told him to shut up...he wasn't used to being talked to that way. Sulking lightly, it was not until the barman started talking about weird stuff did he smile.

"Ha! See! What did I tell you? You, what was your naem?" He asked the barman, liking him already. This would be a good place to come back to. "Where's this building you mentioned? We should check it out, find out what started the fire..." he couldn't help but to get excited about it, he loved solving mysteries! "Oh I don't care...surprise me!" He challenged about the drink.

Tain nodded along to what Paul was saying. She really didn't care but she feigned interest. "I love London," she said with a grin. This might bring up all sorts of questions about where she was from but she would deflect them and talk about something else. She ran a hand through her hair and put her menu down. The champagne arrived and she gestured for the waiter to pour everyone a glass.

The next morning Will woke early, way before Anne and headed to the globe. He had a copy of his script in his had and a bit of a hangover. He'd become bored with all those weird cures long ago, now he just powered through. He needed to get on with his work.

"Chris," said the barman furrowing his brow. This man was acting mighty strange. In the end he brought him an orange juice. He didn't have the time in a busy pub full of people to make making up drinks and surprising people.

Once the second orange juice had arrive Frankie paid and the barman went off to serve other customers.

Paul grinned, feeling a. Bit more relaxed. He smiled at her and nodded. "Me too. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else! Was offered to be president of a company once, but I turned it down because I would have had to relocate to New York City. Couldn't part with my London. So what are you getting?" He asked her, almost forgetting Mr. Saxon was there.

The next day, John could not get up as early as he wanted to. He felt sick but he just went downstairs, ate three eggs and some toast, and felt fine. Being from the 51st century he was able to blow off hangovers. He had memorized the play already with the help of his technology and smiled at Will. "Hey." He greeted and waved the script. "Not a bad play." He added to show he read it.

The Doctor frowned at the plain orange juice, hoping for something more exciting. "Okay...maybe I do need to work on blending in." He admitted in defeat and frowned. He sighed and took a sip of his orange juice. "At least we have somewhere to start..."

Tain looked down at the menu, "I'm not sure. What are you having?" It would be easier to just copy him. She sat back in her chair and took a sip of champagne. Under the table she ran her foot up the Master's leg. She didn't like how quiet he was being. She understood why but she just wasn't used to him being like this.

Will looked at John and smiled, he knew he'd be here but he was glad to see him. "I'm glad you like it." He didn't see why anyone wouldn't like it. It was rather hilarious. "You ready to do some acting?" He grinned widely.

Frankie grinned and drank the remained of her drink. "No time like the present. Come on," she grabbed him by the hand completely ignoring the fact that he still had a drink to drink and dragged him out of the pub. Across the river was indeed a shiny new office building. It looked inconspicuous enough. Certainly from the outside it didn't look as if all mankind was in danger from it.

Paul nodded and told her what he was having. Eel was one of them, and a few other sushi's as well. He set down the menu's and once the waitress came back they all ordered.

The Master scowled at her, getting her hint. He didn't like Paul so that was why he didn't mind letting her take over the show. "Everything looked so goo." He forced himself to say, and nearly stuck his tongue out at Tain; but that wouldn't be very appropriate.

Hilarious? Well John didn't think it was -hilarious- and he liked the writer better than the play....he had only really said it to make Will feel better. But it wasn't horrible, he'll give him that. Smiling, he jumped on the stage, ready to begin acting. He found acting surprisingly easy, and he was the only one who memorized the lines already.

Spitting out some of the orange juice as he was suddenly grabbed, the Doctor left the bartender and extra tip, just barely able to throw some money on the bar and wiped his mouth from being caught in surprise while drinking.

He followed her, finding it odd not to be the one leading but he didn't dare say anything as he figured she was the type that could be scary when upset. He stopped however when they got there and looked up at the building, a wide grin on his face at how menacing it looked. "Wow!" He cried, unable to keep it in. "Would you look at that?" He asked with a laugh. "Now that's what I'm talking about! Told you not being subtle was the answer - let's go inside." He asked and gave her a puppy dog pout hoping she'd go with him.

Tain ordered whatever Paul was having, she really wasn't fussy when it came to food. Before she'd really got to know this planet when she was on the run she'd eaten all sort of horrible things just to survive. Luckily she didn't have to eat as often as humans. She looked at the Master and grinned, she could read his mind and she knew that he'd much rather let her take the lead. It was funny.

Will was very impressed that John had already learned his lines. He sat in front of the stage and did very little directing. This was supposed to be a bit more of a read through. Hopefully they'd be ready in two weeks. John and some of the less experience actors would need a bit of guidance but everyone was brilliant.

Frankie furrowed her brow as she realised that the Doctor thought his non-subtle approach had gained them this information. That was annoying. She ignored him and walked inside, firstly it would be nice to find out what this place was doing. She'd let the Doctor take the lead in here, see exactly what he was going to do.

The Master would rather be in control, but he was also enjoying watching Paul squirm. He gave her a heavy scowl, not saying anything just to make her do all the work. "So...are you looking foward to working for Mr. Saxon?" Paul asked her, not sure what else to talk about.

Acting was easier than John imagined. He didn't know why he didn't try it sooner. After rehursal, he walked up to Will and smiled. "That was easy." He admitted with a confident smirk.

The Dr. Noticed she wanted him to go in first. He hesitated but nodded and walked inside, getting in by using his physcic paper. He looked around at the silver walls and high, high ceilings. "What do you think it is?" He asked with a grin, having a brilliant time as he loved mysteries.

Frankie looked around at the building, the harsh lines and sharp edges made it look very modern. It was too clean to be an office block and the sharp, clinical smell that reached her nose would suggest that it was some sort of lab. "A laboratory?" Frankie questioned. She'd recently been in one, it was unpleasant. But this place was horrible. She was surprised they hadn't been requested to put on coats and visitor's badges at the reception.

"Let's explore," she said excitedly. The Doctor had taken the lead now she could. She grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him down the first corridor she could find. She didn't care where she was going, it was clear that the Doctor's pass thing could get them in. If it couldn't get them into the bowels of this building then you'd have to talk their way in or get captured and be taken.

Nothing here suggested Cybermen, instead it all looked clean. although Frankie wasn't exactly an expert in aliens she didn't get a sense of anything alien here except for the Doctor.

Looking rather surprised when she took his hand, he only grinned at her. "I wouldn't dream of not exploring!" He cried happily and admired her sense of adventure.

He smelled the air and frowned. "I don't know if it's a laboratory, usually we'd smell something funny if it was a lab...unless all the good stuff is hidden away below or something...had that happen before. It looks almost Torchwood except it's not." He said with a scowl not caring if she knew about Torchwood.

"What's Torchwood?" She questioned, "I know that name." It was distinctly familiar. She paushed and let go of the Doctor before looking through a window in a nearby door. "Let's go in here," she said walking in before the Doctor could say anything. Once inside she looked around, the room was all white with very little furnishings. A lone desk and lap stood pressed against one wall. This room couldn't be important if it wasn't locked. Maybe it lead somewhere interesting, maybe it was just a waiting room.

She felt all around the walls with her hands until she got to a distinct join in the continuous wall. She pressed it, it was a door of some kind. A few more pressed and it popped open only to reveal a white door beyond. Frankie tried the handle. It was locked although that probably wouldn't stop the Doctor. If this room were locked and so well hidden behind a plain exterior then it had to be worth getting into.

The Doctor scowled as she asked about Torchwood. "It's bad news if your not from Earth." He explained and glanced at her knowingly. "They hunt and catch aliens. I don't care what Captain Jack Harkness says...it couldn't have changed that much and they are still quick to use guns." He said making a face.

Letting out a yelp of surprise as she yanked him in a room, he scowled at her as he wished she wpuld stop doing that. He rubbed his arm as she yanked him rather hard. Looking around the empty room, he smiled as she began looking for a secret door. Usually that was his job. He pulled out his Smart Specs as he figured the occassion called for it and smiled when she found something."step aside." He warned after they discovered it was locked. Pulling out his Sonic Screwdriver, he easily unlocked it and took over the lead before she could say anything, having fun with their competitiveness.

"Well it is a good job I'm from Earth then, isn't it." She may not have been human but she was most certainly from Earth.

Frankie didn't really understand what he was saying about Torchwood, it didn't matter though as they had more pressing matters of what the hell this was that they had stumbled upon. She watched the Doctor unlock the door and grinned. He was trying to get one up on her, trying to take the lead. Well, she'd let him in this case, it would be interesting to see how he worked. "Why does this place feel so normal?" she asked. It felt so normal that is was weird. Normal, past the point of being normal.

The Doctor gave her a skeptic look that she was from Earth. "I meant human." He specified but she was right, they had more important things to worry about.

"I wonder if the missing people are down here...if they're still alive." He suggested as he used the Screwdriver as a torch. He raised and eyebrow as she said it felt normal being here. "You're weird...and coming from me, that's saying a lot." He teased her with a grin.

"Oh," well okay, she wasn't human. That of course would mean that Torchwood was her enemy, right?

Frankie didn't care much about recovering the missing people. Obviously if they found them then she would help them but she wasn't hear to find them. She just wanted to find out if this was the source of the Cybermen and if so how could they stop it? This was her home, she had no where else to go, unlike the Doctor. She wondered briefly if you could still visit a planet in the past if it had been destroyed in the future. Although the mechanics of time soon got the better of her and she tried not to think.

"No, I mean, it's like someone is trying to make this place feel normal when it actually isn't." They'd walked into a dark corridor now. The lack of light was a pleasant change from the brightness of the previous all-white room.

The Doctor just nodded. It was important for her to understand tha t Torchwood was not her friend.

Finding the missing people actually was important for him. He was here to help, he was always there to help. While he did have somewhere to go, Earth was important to him. It was sort of his adopted home planet with Gallifrey gone...and it was not a wise idea to travel to a destroyed planet in the past, however tempting it was.

"Oh." He said and nodded. She was right. "Its obviously a cover up, but the question is what are they hiding...and do we want to find out or turn around and get out?" He asked and grinned at her.

"Oh, we want to find out," said Frankie with a grin. She had no desire to leave this place unsearched. Something interesting was happening and after 5000 years of walking around amongst humans knowing you were better than them very little got you excited. Even if the Doctor left Frankie would stay on and investigate this place. It was very unlikely that she'd be able to die at the hand of a human so unless they came across any aliens then she was safe.

It was then that a pain shot across her temples. At least that meant they were going in the right direction. She paused for a moment trying to work out what it was she had seen. She wouldn't say anything to the Doctor, there was no point. He wouldn't be able to interpret all of this any better than she would. She seen a door, clearly somewhere in here they'd need to head for. And probably somewhere nearby. At least they were on the right tracks.

The Doctor grinned as she chose to investigate. He always gave people a choice of turning back, but he was happy she didn't. And he didn't plan on leaving her, he'd be the world's biggest ass if he did. "Excellent." He agreed and took her hand. With his other hand, he held his Sonic Screwdriver that was guiding them.

Noticing she looked in pain, he was a doctor after all, he frowned. "What is it?" He asked with concern. It was still not too late to turn back...

"It's nothing," she lied. As soon as it made sense to her she would mention it to the Doctor but for not it was irrelevant. "Come on, let's keep going." She gestured down the hall. She couldn't think what was down here, it was completely doorless and windowless but it seemed to be getting darker and narrower. Frankie gripped the Doctor's hand tighter and took a deep breath. There was much that could scare her but this wasn't exactly comforting.

There was a bang on one of the walls next to them. Frankie didn't jump but she spun around to look at where the noise was coming from. She couldn't see anything. Suddenly the feeling of everything being normal was lifted and Frankie realised that she was in a very alien and scary place.

The Doctor could tell she was lying but he did not call her out on it. He peered at her as though trying to see what is wrong with her. But as she still did not say anything he only nodded. "Fine, butl we're resting up as soon as we get home...doctor's orders." He teased with a grin as the doctor jokes never got old.

He did jump as they heard the bang and gulped. He didn't like it here. "Do you feel like we shouldn't be here?" He asked with a whisper and let go of her hand. He walked up to the wall with the bang and pressed his ear agaisnt it. He closed his eyes trying to listen better. "It sounds like...construction..." he said still in a whisper. "Or, marching..."

Frankie pressed herself against the wall and banged back. If something was trying to communicate with them or scare them then she was going to knock back. But the Doctor was right, it did sound like marching. She thought back to when she'd first seen a Cyberman in a dream. It was most certainly marching. If all of them marched it it would create a sound not far from that.

She very much doubted that they'd be fussed by a bit of banging on the wall next to where they marched but she now felt a little foolish. She continued to walk down to the hall in time with the slow steady sound of metal footsteps. Where were they going?
